How to Set-up a Social Distance Wedding
Our Favorite Social Distancing Ideas
Weddings are suppose to be intimate, with hugs and kisses at every corner, but this year, and even maybe the next, social distance should be considered at your wedding. We have listed out our favorite social distancing ideas to help you reimagine your wedding and guest experience in the midst of COVID-19 and minimize contact at a social celebration.
Live Stream Your Wedding
Many of us have been using video chat apps like Zoom, Google Hangout and FaceTime to stay connected to one another and so building this element into your social distance wedding is only natural. You can hire an AV expert to video all the action, record the session and set up a big screen in your venue to project your Zoom wedding guests during the ceremony, wedding speeches, and the dance party.
Modify Your Wedding Format
Many people might make the decision to not attend your wedding physically. If that happens, there are a few innovative wedding formats that have been mentioned on Wedding Wire to consider. Here at Count Line Event Center, we support the wedding formats listed below:
Multi-wedding: You have multiple opportunities to mix and match guests among the various festivities (rehearsal dinner, after-party, post-wedding brunch). For example, you could invite your elderly guests to your rehearsal dinner and wedding ceremony. Your peers, on the other hand, can watch the ceremony virtually and then attend an evening reception and after-party.
Wear Masks
If the advice of public health officials is to wear face masks, then add this to your dress code on your wedding website or provide them to your guests. Consider buying your wedding party matching face masks along with their matching socks or robes.
Ceremony Location & Seating
You may want to consider having your wedding ceremony outdoors, where the fresh and opened air can act like a barrier between you and the next person. This type of opened space has been a new trend during the pandemic overall. Also, seating arrangements should be considered, where you can pair off seats and separate them from each other, as well as, you could even create a circle configuration establishing sufficient space.
Reception Setup
Give your guests a little more room, choose large round or square tables instead and don’t overcrowd them. You could also go with smaller tables of four or seat some guests by household. You could even create space between tables, so the 6 feet distance is applied. Hand sanitizing stations should be readily accessible, as well as individual hand sanitizing wet-naps at each seat.
Catering Style
Family-style catering, grazing tables, passed hors d’oeuvres and dessert displays have been incredibly popular in recent years, and wedding buffets have long been a favorite. However, sharing serving utensils will not be a good idea for the foreseeable future. Instead, ask your caterer to serve a plated meal including an appetizer and dessert/wedding cake. If you have your heart set on food stations, have portions already plated or have a server dish out portions.
